Cape Scott and North Coast Trail

2024

Rugged & Remote

For those who love Coastal routes and are looking to experience something wild, remote and off the grid, look no further than exploring at the Northern tip of Vancouver Island. The North Coast Trail is a hidden gem, visited by very few people each season. In this 4 day/3 night fastpacking adventure, we will also visit the Cape Scott Lighthouse, an iconic landmark on the BC Coast.

90km of stunning beaches, mud and roots, ropes, water crossings and cable cars await. This trip is for those ready to tackle some challenging terrain and push themselves in a very unique adventure. RunBC Adventures is the only commercial outfitter offering guided fastpacking in this region. If you have experienced the famous West Coast Trail and the Southern Juan de Fuca trail, then this should be your NEXT epic.

This trip departs from Port Hardy on a private boat! Expect Day #1 and #2 to be the most challenging. However, on Day #3 we will move with lighter packs, leaving our tents set up as we enjoy an out/back to Cape Scott from our base. Day #4 wraps up the trip with an easier 15km to the trailhead and a shuttle back to Port Hardy.

A detailed list of “What to Bring and How to Pack” will be sent out to help you prepare.

We rate this trip as ADVANCED due to the long days on the trail. Participants should have previous ultra distance experience. It is required that you have joined in on another RunBC Adventure or can prove previous fastpacking experience in a challenging environment before coming along on this one.

We gratefully acknowledge that this trip takes place on the unceded traditional lands of the Tlatlasikwala, Nakumgilisala and Yutlinuk First Nations people. We thank them for sharing their lands with us.
